I lost my leg in Feb 09, after several misdiagnosis. Kept going to the ER for horrible pain in my calf and foot. It progressed to my using a cane, while crying, just to go to the bathroom.
Finally, my husband and neighbor literally had to pick me up and put me in the car so that I could get back to the same ER, because the pain was incredible!!! 10+!
By this time, a CAT scan was done, and they found five big blood clots in my thigh. After a few debriedments (sp) to try to save my leg, it was futile. One week after being admitted, I had my leg amputated above the knee.
My outlook on all of this is really positive. After six months in a wheelchair, I am getting antsy, though. My BIG hope is that I can get a prosthetic through DARS. It is my only hope.
I just want to be walking in time for Christmas shopping!! It is going to be the biggest Christmas gift EVER!
