A delicate question
Posted On 02/15/2011 13:32:14 by cornell
I'm an OT with a nice gentleman client who has recently had his second below the elbow amputation. He has a very supportive wife but they both would prefer if he could clean himself on the toilet. I'm aware of assistive devices on the market, and that a bidet might be his best answer. However, all that begs the question whether there are devices out there that I'm unaware of, as bidets are expensive and the assistive devices in the catalogues require manipulation of toilet paper into and out of the device. They seem as though they would be very difficult to use with prostheses. Any advice?
