I am from rural Ontario Canada. I have had no amputations, but my husband Rob is a double amputee. Everyone always asks is he "Diabetic". His first amputation was in 1999 and the 2nd was in 2008. He is not diabetic, but this is caused by Buerger's disease. At first he struggled with phlebitis, swollen ankles and alot of pain, not realizing what his outcome was going to be.
He has been really positve throughout both amputations, it is frustrating sometimes for him, but there is alot of other people that are worse off than him. He was fitted with everything new in December 2008, and has had alot of issues. But, you can never give up!!!!
